EE Launches UK’s First 4G Network with Viral Fenton Video Reboot

The New Fenton Video and The New 4G Network

EE (formerly Everything Everywhere) has used last year’s viral video of Fenton and his handler, aka “Jesus Christ!”, to launch the UK’s first 4G Network, 4GEE.

The video is a glorious reworking of the original 2011 Fenton video, where the crazy canine charges after a herd of deer in London’s Richmond Park, ignoring the cries of his master to come to heel. That video was shot on a camera phone and was of pretty poor quality, although some would say that was the charm of it. However, EE’s new take on the Fenton incident is in superb HD. It begins as did the original video, with a herd of deer grazing peacefully in a park. Then the new Fenton shoots off towards them, and the herd stampedes. Excellent shots of Fenton running and the deer jumping out of the way as Fenton’s owner bellows out to try to get him back.

But wait- what’s that? The herd seems to be much larger than in the original, and there are some unfamiliar shapes in there… As the spooked herd rushes past a couple trapped in their car… is that an ostrich? Is that an elephant? A hedgehog? Yep, the videomakers have thrown the kitchen sink. It all ends crazily with Fenton and his owner charging after the herd… now with a T.Rex in there! It’s all good, cleaned up fun, and is a good supplement to the original video.

Now to 4 G. 4G is much faster than 3G, letting you download Web pages or stream music and video at speeds of between 8 and 30Mbps. That means no irritating buffering and pauses when watching video when you’re out and about, even when they’re HD, like the new Fenton video. EE says its 4G network, called 4GEE, will deliver speeds five times faster than 3G to the UK.

4G signals travel further than 3 GG, so they bring the Internet to parts of the country that other data signals can’t reach, making 4G a credible alternative to piping in the Web in the old-fashioned way. And of course, being mobile, you can do all what you want to quicker and on the move! With the right apps, you can videoconference on your phone in HD or play games online with anyone in the world. By the end of this year, 4GEE will be available in 16 cities and spread across the UK from there.
